So let’s get into it with Look #4:
This dress, like with Look #2, was custom made for me. I bought the fabric and the dress was designed and made by an amazingly talented Nigerian Couturier called A’Shabi Tailoring.
This fabric I chose is Sequined Ankara. Ankara (African Wax Print) is industrially produced, typically colorful cotton cloth with batik printing. What makes Ankara unique is the lack of difference in the color intensity of the front and back sides of the fabric. With such vibrant colors and intricate patterns, Ankara fabrics tend to be eye catching and quite versatile. Nowadays, we see Ankara prints embellished with sequins, embroidery, lace, crystals, you name it. We even see Ankara deconstructed and combined with other fabrics as in like this photo of my gorgeous friend (and ultimate fashion superstar) @emeliajane_075

I chose this dress to, again, showcase the beauty of African couture. When a girl of African descent gets the keys to the castle, showing out is a mandate! LOL!
My fascinator is a striking teal blue and black feather-accentuated sinamay saucer fascinator. It attaches to the hair with a beak clip. It is made by a British Milliner from Preston, United Kingdom called LazyBee Boutiques. Click HERE to purchase the same fascinator on Etsy.
For my shoes, I chose Hangisi-inspired crystal embellished pumps bought on Amazon. I love the Manolo Blahnik Hangisi style–I am literally obsessed with them! Alas, their largest size is Euro 42 (US 12) which is way too tight on me. I found a merchant on Amazon (Comfity) that can make custom-made quality dupes of the Hangisi pump (these are not replicas or fake Manolos, they do not bear the Manolo Blahnik Logo nor do they claim to be the real deal). Click HERE to order the Comfity Satin jewel embellished pump on Amazon ($55.99). Click HERE to purchase the Mahnolo Blahnik Hangisi 115mm Pink Satin Crystal Toe Pump from Neiman Marcus ($995).
Please share your thoughts about this look and about the Royal Wedding Extravaganza in general in the comment section down below and stay tuned for Look #5–the Final Look!!!
Love,
Chichi
