Royal Wedding Extravaganza: Wedding Guest Look #1

I must admit, the anticipation of the Royal Wedding of Meghan Markle to Prince Henry Charles Albert David (aka Harry) has escalated to level giddy for me. Even though the Brits have historically oppressed and pillaged many tribes and nations of the world (mine included), I feel like, with this wedding in particular, I am more easily able to make peace with that painful past and let myself get fully swept up in the pomp and pageantry of full-fledged Royal Wedding Extravaganza. I am pretty sure it’s because Prince Harry is marrying a SISTA (I mean, she was for real roasting chicken for him when he proposed to her #blacklove)–can I get a what whaaaaaaat!!! I envision Lady Diana (may her soul RIP) doing the electric slide in her grave right now.

This Royal Wedding is major #inspiration for a fashion lover like moi. Even though my wedding invitation got lost in the mail (I understand Meghan–you’ve been so busy), I have prepped 5 outfits that will (for sure, 100% money back guaranteed) land you on the Best Dressed Royal Wedding Guest list because 1) there is still time for my invitation to arrive (he he he) and 2) the looks can work for any wedding(s) or formal event(s)  you have coming up this season.

So let’s get into it with Look #1:

This Navy Clean Scuba Midi Cuff One Shoulder Wrap Skirt Dress by ASOS (sold out) is definitely an elegant piece that can be styled to reveal your truest blue blood. The Royal wedding dress code is Modest. For women that translates to a day dress and a hat, so check and check! Click HERE and HERE to purchase a similar look.

I styled this dress with my favourite brooch (pin) of all time by Oscar de la Renta made of Blue Sapphire. I did that in memory of the late Princess Diana–the people’s Princess. Princess Diana’s signature gemstone was definitely Sapphire–she wore Blue Sapphire jewelry many times throughout her life as pictured below in her engagement photo and spotting her famous Sapphire and Pearl choker (click HERE for more on this topic). This Oscar de la Renta brooch ($390) is called the Bold Teardrop Brooch and I bought it in 2013 (it is sold out).  Click HERE to order a very similar (much cheaper) brooch on Etsy ($21.50).

My headpiece is a large stunning fascinator in multicolour: navy, dark purple, lavender, and blue adorned with feather butterflies. It is by an uber-talented milliner from Estonia–I purchased it on Etsy. It is whimsical and regal blended beautifully. Click HERE to purchase this same headpiece on Etsy ($119).

I chose a grey Hermes Kelly bag for this look as a nod to Grace Kelly, an American movie actress who became Princess of Monaco after marrying Prince Rainier III, in April 1956 (Meghan Markle’s foremother!)

For my shoes, I chose the Hangisi-inspired crystal embellished pumps bought on Amazon. I love the Manolo Blahnik hangisi shoes–I am literally obsessed with them! Alas, their largest size is Euro 42 (US 12) which is way too tight on me. I found a merchant on Amazon (Comfity) that can make custom-made quality dupes of the Hangisi pump (these are not replicas or fake Manolos, they do not bear the Manolo Blahnik Logo nor do they claim to be the real deal). Click HERE to order the Comfity Satin jewel embellished pump on Amazon ($55.99). Click HERE to purchase the Mahnolo Blahnik Hangisi 115mm Pink Satin Crystal Toe Pump from Neiman Marcus ($995).

My watch is the Michele Women’s MWW16A000066 Caber Diamond Two-Tone Stainless Steel Watch. Click HERE to order the same one or HERE to shop for other Michele Watches.

Please share your thoughts about this look and the Royal Wedding Extravaganza in general in the comment section down below and stay tuned for Look #2!!

Chichi

Nice chichi, I also believe my invitation got lost in the mail… that said I appreciate the outfit tips in case I do find it, I’ll have a last minute dress to make it. Lol very nicely written and I love the connect to Princess Diana who I agree would have thoroughly enjoyed this event. Xo
