Bringing a Summer Dress into Pre-Fall/Fall
Do you have a sleeveless or short-sleeve dress from spring or summer that you just want to rock a little while longer? If yes, then you could style that dress with a cardigan in a rich pre-fall or fall color and ankle boots/booties. This is a combo that will work with or without tights and it will leave you looking like you stepped out of a high-fashion magazine. The cardigan and dress featured in this look are both from 2007 actually. When you buy quality pieces, the longevity you get out of them justifies some of the higher prices and leads to favorable numbers when assessing cost per wear. I am also featuring these pieces as a shout out to myself for being able to still fit them after two kids (can I get a Hallelujah somebody?!?!?!)
The Dress is by my favorite designer, Diane von Furstenberg. It is a cap-sleeved tie neck dress (see picture below). The Sweater is by Trina Turk.
Here are a few combinations in styles that are currently available:
For a solid color dress, you can do a multicolored argyle sweater like this (reverse of my outfit which is a multicolored argyle dress with a solid color sweater).
Brooks Brothers Sweater/J Crew Dress
The Open Toe booties are by Charles David and from Nordstrom Rack. They cost <$75. Here are some similar styles here, here, here and here.
The Bag is the Prada Cahier bag. Find the latest version by clicking here. I have styled all the combos with the J Crew Signet Leather Bag which I love and they range in price from $118-$128–great style does not have to come with luxury price tag.
